During Competition time, all rules need to be strictly adhered to.
From Cherie, our host this week: It's been a fun and challenging few weeks of competition this winter.  Now it's almost time for it to end so it seemed fitting for the theme for week six to be ... "The End"   Just show us something that represents an ending or end for you.
Who Knew She Was Fading Away

The couple with the horse photo was taken June 28, 2010.  The husband was leading a horse into the barn as he ended the day's training, the wife was coming out of the barn and their hands touched and eyes met, neither said a word and both kept walking.
The scene with rainbow was taken August 7, 2010 in the mountains of New Mexico.
September 19, 2010 the life of a young mother and wife came to a sudden end.  Who knew she was gradually fading away from an illness that even she didn't know she had.
Camera: Nikon D-50 for both photos, automatic setting
Photo program to fade one photo and combine with the rainbow at the end of the road: Adobe Photoshop Elements 9.0
This photo does not bring a smile to my face as most of my other entries have.

Describe Yourself with an Image (hosted by the Gator)
The object is to think about who and what you are.  What sums up, tells a story about you, describes you physically, spiritually, or mentally.  Then capture that in an Image.  A few words about why is OK for this theme.
Like Two Peas in a Pod
My Horse Jake and I

1.  We both are on the down hill side as far as age goes, growing old together.
2.  We both have a tendency to gain weight.
3.  We both think retirement is the best job ever.
4.  Refer to #3, In other words, allergic to work but willing to work and get a job done, just don't hurry us.
5.  Refer to #2, we both will do most anything for food, preferring something on the sweet side.
6.   Loyal to friends and family.
7.   Reliable & steadfast (or I hope I am), I know Jake is.
8.  Enjoy getting out on the trail and exploring.
9.  Old fashioned and set in our ways. 10.  And both Jake and I are individuals.....NOT  another one out there......no other comment needed

Picture Perfect Competition
Week # 1, 2011
Theme: Ethnic

I am the KING, you little brother are to OBEY any and all ORDERS.
Understand!

Photo:  The larger and older big brother (the sorrel) is always bossing his younger brother (the palomino) similar to some ethnic groups of people whose leaders expect the same from their subjects.  Photo was taken November 5, 2008 with a Nikon D-50 on automatic and burst settings.  Slight adjustments including enlargement and cropping, faded edges, and a small frame.
If this photo looks familiar it was used for "Contrast" theme for Picture Perfect.  Little time this week  as the house remodel is coming to a close and we will soon be in out house again so I decided to reuse a photo instead of skipping the contest.
I hope my entry brings a smile to your face as it does mine. ------ And yes, even though younger brother is now as big or bigger than older brother.  Doc the older brother says he was first born and still the KING!

Hosts this week: Heather, Cherie, and the Gator

Dillon and his Snowman and Gingerbread Man friends, along with the rest of the crew at the Rockin' Heart Ranch in Texas wish each of you a very Merry Christmas, a safe and happy holidays, and a very propersous New Year in 2011.

Photo: Taken last winter January 30, 2010 the morning after a nice heavy snow.  Dillon was trotting to me, to see what I might have for him.  The "boys" were feeling quite good and were playing in the snow.  I played on http://www.picnik.com to complete the card.  Sight adjustments were made to the photo on Adobe Photoshop Elements last year after the photo was taken.

Diamond Decorates for the Holidays

With the house repair and remodel still in effect, cabin fever often attacks on cold and/or windy days.  Also days like today when I had to stick around close for all those little questions I decorate on the computer since I can't do it in the house.  We have been living in the 8' X14' living quarters of our horse trailer since the first part of August.  So when cabin fever struck tonight there is not a whole lot to do but play on the computer and watch the National Finals Rodeo that Russ records on DVD in the house so we can watch in the trailer.
Where: Inside the living quarters parked between the house and the shop so the view is not that great either.
When: tonight (12/10/10)
Camera: Nikon D-50.  Since the flash would glare on the computer and TV, I placed my hand over the flash.
Programs: http://www.picnik.com/ for the Christmas things and frame; Adobe Photoshop Elements to apply the copy right brand "the Rockin' Heart"

Our host for Picture Perfect this week is the Gator.
Rockin' Heart Ranch's Observation Platform

It's no secret that I enjoy my horses and what better way to observe the wonders of nature than from the back of a horse.  This photo was taken while in the saddle with my Canon Power Shot A1000 IS in the afternoon of October 20, 2010.  Location: our front yard flower beds.  "Doc", a 3 year old gelding stood quietly while I watched the butterflies on the "butterfly bush" (buddleia).  One of several that we planted.  If you look closely in the right hand lower corner, you can see Doc's left ear behind the for fun autumn leaves frame from http://www.picnik.com/

Our host this week is Cherie Instructions were not to use photos in files, etc but to follow instructions given in the blog and then take photos, post one of your treasures.  It was either break the rules this week or not enter.  I love entering and posting from my files so I decided to break the rules.  After all it's not contest time and we were on a treasure hunt and we were following instructions given to us.
~*~*~
In 1989 and then in 1990 while riding with a trail riding club we came across an old cart not too far off an old trail and up a mountain.  That was about all I could remember.  In 2006 Russ and I made our first trip to this area and of course I was hoping we would find the cart.  No such luck.  We were told it was still there and given some very vague directions.  Then in 2009 we were give some more directions.  Not really good directions but at least we knew what canyon and creek to follow.  By using the old photos that I had taken we set out to find this treasure.  Russ and I studied the old photos, looking at the types of trees, slope of the land, etc.  Off we went, was about to give up when it was spotted.  Hard to see but the cart was still there.

Where: Carson National Forest in New Mexico while riding my horse Jake.
When: August 2009
Programs: Enlarged and cropped on Adobe Photoshop Elements

This weeks theme is in loving support of all the warriors out there, who fight the mighty battle against Breast Cancer. Perhaps its your battle or someone you love, a neighbor, a colleague, a wife, a daughter, a mother a sister, aunt or grandmother, we all know somebody who has waged this war, and remember..men get it too!!
My photo is for our niece who has just started her battle against Breast Cancer.
I did not take this photo.  It is a photo of myself in the bright pink shirt and my little friend in the lighter pink shirt and my horse Jake proving he is tough enough to wear pink too.  It was a fun horse show and I allowed my little friend to pick out my clothes for her class from my daughter's rodeo queen shirts (it was a lead line costume class, my little friend went as a rodeo queen).  The sport of rodeo often has Tough Enough to Wear Pink events when everyone wears pink and proceeds go to breast cancer research.

I Framed the photo in pink and pink ribbons for breast cancer using http://www.picnik.com/

Little Joe the Rockin' Heart Ranch Photo Editor: Me & Doc at Play
Home is where the heart is; is definitely the case in this photo.  This real life cowboy/cowgirl husband and wife are very much at home on the range.  I was invited to observe and take photos this morning as Becky and Shy brought this young stud horse into the corral where soon after this photo was taken, he was gelded.  For a while this morning it was not 2010 but the early pioneer days of a Texas panhandle ranch.  I took this photo looking through an alley of an old barn. Lots of home on the range color, both in soft hues of the autumn but also in the personality and character of the couple and their horses.  Also good neighbors, a few miles from our place.

Photo program: Enlarged and cropped on Photoshop Elements 8.0 and then framed in http://www.picnik.com

The sound of hooves hitting the ground in play is always music to my ears.

I think I'm breaking some sort of Picture Perfect rules with this entry as it moves and is more than one photo. This was a forgotten photo that I found while going through files looking for a suitable music photo.  I  did this photo some time ago and don't remember what online program I used so I googled the label lunapic:  http://www.lunapic.com/editor/
